ENERGY TRANSITIONAlberta priority

Hydrogen (blue, gas-derived)

2.6 Mt/yr today, mostly grey; cheap gas plus pore space make Alberta the lowest-cost blue hydrogen region in North America.

Alberta produced about 2.6 Mt of hydrogen in 2025 (2.2 Mt grey, 0.5 Mt blue) for refining, upgrading and fertilizer, and the AER expects 4.4 Mt by 2035. AER break-even costs are C$1.29–1.35/kg grey, C$1.95–2.00/kg blue and C$4.40–6.19/kg green. Air Products' 1,500 t/d Edmonton complex and Linde's plant for Dow Path2Zero anchor the next wave.

POTENTIAL & KNOWN RESERVES IN ALBERTA

2.6 Mt/yr (2025) → 4.4 Mt/yr by 2035; feedstock is 136 Tcf proved gas plus 79 Gt pore space
